DESCRIPTION:Free | RSVP here > \n\nTo close Making Latinidad\, a three-day festival at El Museo del Barrio\, we present Tijuana\, a work by the collective Lagartijas Tiradas al Sol.  \nWhat does it mean to become someone else — someone radically different from ourselves? And can we ever ethically embody another person’s life? \nTijuana is a work by the collective Lagartijas Tiradas al Sol\, inspired by Günter Wallraff’s Cabeza de turco and Andrés Solano’s Seis meses con el salario mínimo. \nFor six months\, actor Lázaro Gabino Rodríguez became Santiago Ramírez\, a resident of Tijuana working for minimum wage in a local factory. The performance recounts his experience while examining the possibilities and limits of representation: becoming someone else\, attempting to live another person’s life\, and passing oneself off as another. “Isn’t that what acting is?” the collective asks. \nMore Information\nTijuana premiered at the Escenas do Cambio festival in 2016 and has since been presented internationally and in more than 15 cities across Mexico\, including at festivals in Berlin\, Madrid\, Montreal\, Rome\, Austin\, and Buenos Aires.
