DESCRIPTION:In collaboration with the 2020 BomPlenazo online Festival\, join us for a presentation by Puerto Rico’s powerful plena ensemble\, Plena Combativa. Stemming from the work of composer\, percussionist and community organizer\, Adriana Santoni Rodríguez\, Plena Combativa is an all-female ensemble which uses their voices and drums as their most powerful tool for voicing injustice and affecting change. \n  \nFREE ADMISSION via Watch Party at El Museo’s Facebook Page \n  \nABOUT PLENA COMBATIVA \nUniting gender\, justice\, and Puertorriqueñidad in one\, Plena Combativa has been at the forefront of all major social change movements in Puerto Rico since 2017. As a direct response from the inaction and disregard experienced on the island post-Hurricane María. Their socially conscious lyrics have been heard in many conferences\, countless protests and across numerous stages throughout the island. In 2018\, they were featured in Santiago de Cuba’s Festival de Fuego\, and in July 2020\, amid an island-wide shut down\, they produced\, recorded and released their debut album – demonstrating the prowess of Plena\, and feminine strength.
