SUMMARY:PONTE READY! Comida Pal Pueblo
DESCRIPTION:Food insecurity is a major concern in many of our underserved communities. Join us for an important conversation with Vianca Lugo of Comida Pal Pueblo\, a Bushwick-based collective working to serve the basic needs of our communities\, where we will discuss the historical and current efforts being made to address food disparity and share ways to fight back against food insecurity. \nFREE | Via El Museo’s Instagram Live  \nABOUT COMIDA PAL PUEBLO\nComida Pal Pueblo is an initiative collectively led by three Bushwick-based grassroots organizations\, New York Boricua Resistance (NYBR)\, G-Rebls\, and Mi Casa Resiste. Together\, they work to distribute free fresh produce\, non-perishables\, prepared meals\, PPE\, toiletries\, and other essential items based on community needs on a bi-weekly basis on Humboldt Street in between Moore & Varet in Bushwick\, NY. They work to obtain items by donation or by raising funds to buy from local businesses\, restaurants\, and farms. This effort is organized by Bushwick natives and residents that know the struggles immigrant\, Latine\, and Black families face in the area. \nThis program is a part of El Museo en Tu Casa\, our new bilingual digital initiative encouraging visitors to explore and learn about Latino art and culture. Generously supported by Tony Bechara and the Board of Trustees\, the Census 2020\, and the NYC COVID-19 Response & Impact Fund \nImage Courtesy of Mario Carion
