He will teach us how to prepare a vegetarian canoa (stuffed ripe plantain)\, and sharing with us about his work to support local restaurants in Puerto Rico after the passing of Hurricane Maria in 2017. \nFREE ADMISSION | Live via Zoom | To RSVP\, click here. \nAbout Manolo López\nManolo López is a Puerto Rican chef & entrepreneur who is known for creating brands that celebrate Latin culture. In 2014\, he launched Mofon•GO\, the first Puerto Rican pop-up restaurant in NY. After debuting at Smorgabsurg\, NY’s biggest outdoor market\, Mofon•GO went on to do international pop-ups in Japan\, Mexico & Puerto Rico. In 2016\, he launched Cosa Nuestra; A traveling global movement that uses art\, culture\, and cuisine to bring Latin culture to life from its genesis and transform the current conversation around Latinos. Creating a collective of the best chefs\, bartenders\, artists & musicians from Puerto Rico & Puerto Ricans in the diaspora as a way to showcase our culture in a post-modern way. Manolo’s work in New York came to a halt when Hurricane Maria devastated Puerto Rico and became one of the first responders. Aiding the Island with food distribution programs. As a way to strengthen the local economy\, he launched The Cosa Nuestra Relief Fund\, a program that paid local restaurants for the meals that they gave out free of charge in areas of need. Today\, he speaks around the world about Puerto Rico & its history\, using food as a transformational tool to bring communities together. \nThis program is a part of El Museo en Tu Casa\, our new bilingual digital initiative encouraging visitors to explore and learn about Latino art and culture.
