DESCRIPTION:Join us for our spring Sábado Familiar! We are excited to invite East Harlem-based multidisciplinary artist Kim Cabán for a special family art workshop\, inspired by the new season. Sowing Seeds: siembras is an art workshop that highlights Afro-Caribbean agriculture. Participants will learn about the cultural relevance of seeds that provide a source of livelihood on the islands. Using still-life objects found in Caribbean homes and tropical fruits and vegetables grown and consumed by the culture. Open to all ages. \nAdditionally\, in recognition of National Child Abuse Prevention Awareness Month\, we are partnering with the Administration for Children’s Services on a resource fair inside El Museo’s Lobby. \nFree Admission | To RSVP\, click here.  \n— \nABOUT KIM CABÁN \nKim Cabán\, born and raised in NYC\, is a multidisciplinary artist whose career encompasses her passion for creating. Inspired by her Caribbean roots\, she explores raw textures\, bold colors\, and natural elements in her artwork and everyday lifestyle. Her journey with art began in production and event planning\, with over 10 years of experience developing collaborations and culturally relevant experiences. \nIn 2020 she created SUNROOM SALA\, a creative studio specializing in culture-centric visual arts and immersive experiences. Honing her creative passions for Art + Design she’s collaborated with community organizations like the Fresh Air Fund\, West Harlem Art Fund\, and The Horticulture Society of New York to share her artwork and spark innovative ideas while exploring mixed mediums.
