DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Mexico’s beloved 3\,000 year-old tradition commemorating friends and relatives who have passed away with a procession led by Danza Azteca Chichimeca x Las Calaveras Callejeras and Trio Jarocho Canto Veracruz\, a community altar by multidisciplinary artist Cievel Xicohtencatl in collaboration with LSA Family Health Service\, an art-making workshop\, face painting\, a special concert by Sound & Soul Tierra del Silencio\, and more! ¡Celebra la tradición Mexicana de más de 3\,000 años que conmemora a amigos y familiares que han fallecido con una procesión liderada por Danza Azteca Chichimeca x Las Calaveras Callejeras y Trio Jarocho Canto Veracruz\, un altar comunitario por la artista Cievel Xicohtencatl en colaboración con LSA Family Health Service\, un taller de arte\, pinta caritas\, un concierto especial por Sound & Soul Tierra del Silencio\, y más!  \nAltar Installation | Instalación\nAltar: Flor de La Vida by Cievel Xicohtencatl in collaboration with LSA Family Health Service\n11:00am – 6:00pm | El Café\nFlor de La Vida\, a collaboration between Cievel Xicohtencatl and LSA Family Health Service\, is a take on traditional ofrendas inspired by the ancestral tradition of Día de Muertos in Mexico. Xicohtencatl and participants from LSA created elements of the altar during the span of a month\, through weekly workshops with the support of Art Therapist and Director of Mental Health Services\, Mónica Sánchez. Flor de La Vida\, named by participants\, commemorates the notion of memory as a way to celebrate life; it invites us to consider what story we leave behind and offers us a moment to reflect and celebrate the legacies passed down to us. Flor de La Vida\, una colaboración entre Cievel Xicohtencatl y LSA Family Health Service\, es una interpretación de las ofrendas tradicionales inspiradas en la tradición ancestral de Día de Muertos en méxico. Xicohtencatl y los participantes de LSA crearon los elementos del altar en un mes\, a través de talleres semanales con el apoyo de la terapeuta de arte y Directora de Servicios Familiares\, Monica Sanchez. Utilizing the guitar as its source of inspiration\, the group presents a repertoire of Mexican and Latin American folklore fusing pre-hispanic sounds with traditional rhythms like huapango\, rancheras\, and joropos. El Museo del Barrio está encantado de presentar a Sound & Soul Tierra del Silencio\, una orchestra de guitarras bajo la dirección de Daniel Martinez. Utilizando la guitarra como fuente de inspiración\, el grupo musical presenta un repertorio de folklore mexicano y latinoamericano que fusiona sonidos prehispánicos con ritmos tradicionales como el huapango\, rancheras y joropos.
