DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, February 8\, 2025\nFREE | 12 – 4:30 PM \nJoin us to immerse yourself in the exhibition Flow States – LA TRIENAL 2024\, El Museo’s second large-scale survey of Latine art\, and learn more about the flow of artists\, ideas and culture across the diaspora. Designed for all ages\, this event will feature free exhibition tours\, art-making experiences\, led by the artists in the exhibition\, dance and music workshops and more. This is your last opportunity to experience the full exhibition before some galleries close for re-installation. \nAll ages welcome.\nRSVP here  \n  \nSCHEDULE OF THE DAY: \n12:00 PM – 4:30 PM | Art Making: Clay Workshop by Koyoltzintli  \nInspired by Koyoltzintli’s installation\, Objectos del Futuro (Objects of the Future)\, 2024 in Flow States\, workshop participants will learn how to make a ceramic instrument using airdry clay inspired by Pre-Columbian ceramic objects.  Dig into the process of working with clay\, making an instrument\, and learn how to make music with it! \n12:00 PM – 4:30 PM | Art Making: Indigo Flow by Esteban Cabeza de Baca  \nExplore the use of indigo\, a natural plant-based dye\, and the process of dyeing with Flow States’ artist Esteban Cabeza de Baca. In this workshop\, participants will engage with the ancient tradition of dyeing fabrics. Participants are encouraged to express themselves by folding\, dipping\, and dyeing their own fabric to understand sustainable and natural sources of color as well as the history of the process. \n12:30 PM\, 1:30 PM\, and 3:15 PM | Exhibition Tours of Flow States: LA TRIENAL 2024  \nJoin El Museo’s Educators to explore Flow States: LA TRIENAL 2024. \n 1:00 PM and 2:30 PM | Music & Storytelling:  Musical Presentation by Koyoltzintli  \nJoin artist Koyoltzintli in an interactive discussion about pre-Columbian sound objects\, the stories around these instruments\, and their connection to indigenous practices. Koyoltzintli will show participants how to play these instruments. \n12:30 PM and 2:30 PM | Music & Movement:  Kinding Sindaw Dance and Storytelling Workshop  \nInspired by works in Flow States\, join us for a participatory workshop to learn about the indigenous people of the Philippines through ancestral traditional dance\, storytelling and kulintang music. Discover the history and significance of ancestral living tradition storytelling movements\, a cultural artform that carries the language of Philippine legends\, epics\, myths\, and heritage.  Participants will learn basic steps of traditional dances\, and the use of fans and scarves as props. \n1:30 PM and 3:30 PM | Music & Movement: Dance Workshop by Tout Se Pa  \nJoin Tout Se Pa in an intensive dance workshop focusing on Haitian Folkloric dance\, designed for all ages and abilities. Learn about specific rhythms and their accompanying dance moves. Instructor Riva Nyri Precil will discuss the colors\, elements\, and energies associated with each rhythm. Each class will focus on one rhythm and will include live Haitian drumming.
