Featuring DJs Gnarianna\, SUCIA & friends dropping beats and setting off an open mic; and a Natural Dye and Direct Action community intervention.with artist Antonia Perez. Drop by and chill over some dope beats and fly guests! \nArt Making Workshop\nLet’s make a mural!\n6:00pm – 8:30pm | Courtyard\nJoin us as we create a collaborative community mural that not only speaks to our history\, but remind us why our neighborhood of El Barrio is so unico! \nCommunity Intervention Workshop\nDirect Action Workshop: Abolishing ICE\n6:30pm – 8:00pm | El Taller (3rd Floor)\nDirect Action is the practice of organizing each other to live as though we were already free. Together we’ll build a brave space to practice tactics for civil disobedience\, strategies for community defense\, and ways to use our bodies to build power. This Brujas-led training is designed for all y’all wanting to take action to #AbolishICE. \nPlant Dye Workshop\nExpanding Migration\n6:30pm – 8:00pm | Courtyard\nPlants and people have always moved freely. In nature the only borders are mountains or bodies of water\, and even then people\, plants and animals have found ways of spreading themselves. There is a similarity in the language that is presently used to describe unwanted plants and people for example\, invasive\, alien\, “taking over\,” etc. The actions taken to control both often have similar measures\, whether it be spending millions of dollars on pesticides\, building walls\, or uprooting communities. In this plant dye workshop Herban Cura will share on native and non native plants of the North east and Central America in order to bridge a conversation through color of what is currently happening on the border. Through this hands on workshops participants will leave knowing the basics of plant dyes and have the opportunity to create a collaborative prayer flag that will then be sent to the border as an ongoing art piece. \nOpen Mic\nOpen Mic hosted by BZA & BRUJAS\n7:30pm – 8:00pm | El Café\nBZA and Brujas lead an open mic session for y’all to share your pensamientos and feelings with the comunidad.
