DESCRIPTION:Celebrate East Harlem at the top of Museum Mile with the return of our electric series of free summer block parties\, Uptown Bounce! Come enjoy an eclectic series of free summer block parties presented by the Museum of the City of New York and El Museo del Barrio. In its 11th year\, the series will once again feature top DJs\, special guests\, live performances\, art making activities\, and more. \nFania Mania \nJoin us as we celebrate the 60th anniversary of the legendary New York label Fania Records during the second night of Uptown Bounce\, Fania Mania. \nEnjoy Afro-Latin music and Salsa music by Gia Fu. Gia Fu\, from Hong Kong\, specializes in Afro-Latin music\, particularly Salsa and associated rhythms. \nAs part of El Museo del Barrio’s upcoming exhibition\, Flow States – LA TRIENAL 2024\, artist Mark Menjívar will host a workshop related to his ongoing project\, La Misma Canción. During the workshop participants will create welcome and farewell signs for the migrating birds that make their way through New York City. \nThroughout the evening\, we will also offer free exhibition tours of our exhibition\, Amalia Mesa-Bains: Archaeology of Memory\, as well as art-making experiences. \n \n  \nThank you to RG|NY for sponsoring our Uptown Bounce series.\n \n  \nFree Admission. | To RSVP\, click here.
