El Museo del Barrio and Belongó announce a new multi-engagement residency in 2026, bringing two of New York City’s most influential Latin American cultural institutions into closer alignment at a pivotal moment of growth for both organizations. The residency marks a significant deepening of Belongó’s presence in the East Harlem community as it advances plans for Casa Belongó, a future performing arts center to be built just blocks away. Through this collaboration, both organizations affirm a shared commitment to artistic innovation, cultural preservation, and community-driven programming that reflects the breadth of creativity from across the Americas.
In March, the Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra teams up with the Bronx-based ensemble BronX BandA, a genre-defying project of Casita Maria Center for Arts & Education. Together they explore the layered soundscape of the Bronx through original compositions and new arrangements that blend jazz traditions with community memory, local oral histories, and improvisation.
