As part of Making Latinidad, a three-day festival at El Museo del Barrio, we invite creatives to a workshop exploring fiction, its possibilities, and its implications. Using the methodology of Lagartijas Tiradas al Sol, participants will explore strategies and approaches to artistic creation that examine the relationships between fiction and reality, deceit and truth, and imposture and originality.
The workshop draws on the collective’s approach to collaboration: “In our experience, the creation of the collective does not seek consensus, but instead accepts the necessity of conflict. But, following the theory of Chantal Mouffe, this design produces not antagonism, but a space in which we recognize differences, and we don’t seek to eliminate them, but allow them to coexist.” — LTS

About the Workshop Facilitator
Lázaro Gabino Rodríguez was born in Durango, Mexico, in 1983. He holds a master’s degree in theater from the Amsterdamse Hogeschool voor de Kunsten (AHK). His work explores the idea of fiction, taking form through theater, writing, film, and radio productions. He has appeared in more than 30 films, working with directors including Nicolás Pereda, Raya Martin, Gust Van der Berghe, and Yulene Olaizola. Since 2003, he has worked with the collective Lagartijas Tiradas al Sol.
